Half Acre Cycling

Half Acre Cycling, founded in 2007, is an intimate group of dedicated cyclists who love racing and challenging ourselves yet still love the bike and our teammates when we’re not racing. We formed as a close-knit group who are committed to improving our skills, advancing our sport, and keeping it all in perspective. We all have other jobs and draws in our lives, but cycling is what brings us together for good times, for workouts, and for giving back. We like good results when we get them, but we prioritize good, clean, friendly fun. We are a USAC-licensed Chicago-based cycling club of female and male cyclists in categories 3-5 in cyclo-cross, mountain, track and road disciplines, including USAC-licensed officials, coaches, and mechanics. The only disciplines we don't do (as of now) are BMX, observed trials, and downhill. We keep our club small, focusing more on the attitude and spirit of the team rather than than results. In 2009 Half Acre Cycling made a new commitment to supporting a women's group within HAC as well as all women in cycling and doing what we can to help increase participation among women in all disciplines of racing. In that vein, we've hosted a women's social night, we're hosting women's beginner clinics, and we are working hard to value women's participation and leadership both in the team and in the sport.
