HANS: A Case Study is a modern fable based on Sigmund Freud’s 1909 landmark case study “Little Hans: Analysis of a Phobia in a Five Year old Boy”; the model for modern child psychoanalysis and the springboard for all of Freud’s theories. Written and Directed by David Pilot, HANS: A Case Study is a hero’s tale of a young boy’s escape from the imposition of neurosis into revelation of self. HANS is a commercial theatrical exploration of a modern fable - the real life story of Herbert Graf (Hans), who emigrated from Vienna (before theoccupation) to America, helped build Lincoln Center and become the first stage director of the Metropolitan opera.
