The Hanthorn Cannery Foundation is a 501 C-3 Non-Profit Corporation whose mission is to preserve the memory and status of the commercial canning industry. Its Free Museum is located at the Hanthorn Cannery, also known as Pier39-Astoria, in Astoria, Oregon. Built in 1875, its founder, JO Hanthorn co-created the Columbia River Packers Association in 1893, produced World Famous Canned Salmon, developed Canned Albacore Tuna, and the Brand Bumble Bee. The Hanthorn Cannery is the Home of the first Bumble Bee Cannery.
