Harmen Meinsma

Harmen Meinsma is an artist working with photography, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Harmen is using the camera to create visionary images of people who, like rare flowers, are enchanting and unusual in appearance. He finds his subjects with a deep curiosity and appreciation of their individuality. In his work, he is making references to popular culture and is embarking upon the realms of kitsch pop surrealism. In some images, the photographer creates a staged dialogue between him and his subjects, by posing along with them like true partners in crime. Harmen Meinsma received his BA (hons) degree from the Willem de Kooning academy in 2017. Since then, he is working on vibrant personal and commissioned projects. His work is exhibited in New York during Photoville in 2019 and has been featured in magazines such as & C, Vogue NL and i-D.
