Haudenosaunee Development Institute
The Haudenosaunee Development Institute (HDI) was established by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council in 2007 to represent the Confederacy’s interests in land development. The HDI operates within the jurisdiction and regulates development in areas defined in the Haldimand Proclamation and the 1701 Treaty Area. Our job is to administer a regulatory framework that identifies, registers, and monitors development to ensure full compliance with Haudenosaunee values and insights set forth in the Haudenosaunee Green Plan (HGP) and the Haudenosaunee Development Protocol (HDP). Operations adhere to the principles and governance structures of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, a traditional alliance comprising of the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora nations. Now our minds are one.
