He Waka Tapu

He Waka Tapu is a kaupapa Māori not-for-profit organisation, providing healthcare and social services support to whānau across the South Island. We use our tikanga Māori and the values of Māori culture to help people identify what they really want out of life, working closely with our community, other service providers and government agencies to meet the needs of whānau. Our core values are Manaakitanga, Whānaungatanga, Rangatiratanga and Whakākoako, which our Kaimahi aim to uphold in their mahi. We provide the following programs- Family Court Domestic Violence programmes - Community Probation Service programmes - Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children support - Wāhine Ora - Breast Screen & Cervical Smear Wāhine Ora - Regional Māori Alcohol and other Drug Services - Ministry of Health Residential whānau support - 0800 Hey Bro – 24/7 helpline for men ‘Me mahi tahi tātou mo te orange o te whānau.’ Working together for the wellness of family.
