Headwaters Tech Hub helps Montana build technologies that matter — globally and locally. Anchored in smart photonics sensing systems and their applications across sectors, we work alongside partners across industry, higher education, tribal communities, and economic development to drive innovation, support entrepreneurship, and expand access to high-quality jobs across Montana. Our role is to connect people, place, and technology. We help align research, workforce development, testbeds, and capital so communities across the state can participate in and benefit from a growing technology economy. As a U.S. Department of Commerce EDA-designated Regional Technology and Innovation Hub, Headwaters Tech Hub supports work happening on the ground: in labs, classrooms, testbeds, small towns, tribal communities, and growing cities. We focus on identifying and removing friction, strengthening partnerships, and building pathways that make innovation more accessible statewide. We believe Montana’s strength comes from collaboration. When one business, community, or region moves forward, the impact reaches far beyond a single place.
