Healthy Peabody Collaborative

The Healthy Peabody Collaborative was formed in March 2008 under Mayor Michael J. Bonfanti. Our members are working to reduce underage substance abuse in the City of Peabody while creating a healthier community for all who live, work and play in Peabody, MA. The Collaborative was awarded a three-year grant, primarily to address underage substance abuse, in July 2008 through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Bureau of Substance Abuse Services and in October 2009, a five-year grant through the Federal government's "Drug Free Communities" program directed by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education provides funding for the Summer Foods Service Program. An array of mini grants were awarded to fund materials and supplies, staffing, program start up costs and increased enforcement activities. In-kind support is received from the City of Peabody Mayor's Office and City of Peabody Police, Health, School and Library departments.
