Hem Architects

Traditional architects focus purely on design. At HEM, we bridge the gap that design alone can't fill. We sell on results. We’re a friendly, driven architectural practice based in Sheffield, partnering with ambitious homeowners, developers, and housing associations across the UK. We use technical expertise and commercial creativity to make properties more efficient, more profitable, and significantly more valuable. Here are the specific problems we solve for our clients: Unlocking Tricky Sites & Planning Friction: Planning shouldn't be a gamble. We specialise in securing approval for difficult sites, green belt plots, and complex developments, turning negative pre-apps or refusals into high-yield successes. Slashing Energy Bills & Eliminating Building Damp: As Passivhaus and AECB Retrofit experts, we design new builds and upgrade existing stock to banish cold draughts, mould, and energy bill anxiety, delivering ultra-comfortable, healthy spaces. Boosting Commercial & Portfolio Returns: We help B2B clients reduce maintenance overheads, eliminate tenant fuel poverty, and lower vacant periods to ensure the highest possible return on investment. Why do clients want us on their team? Successful development is a team endeavour. We’re on your side from day one: We manage your budget like our own: We actively monitor construction costs and risks to eliminate nasty financial surprises. End-to-end leadership: We seamlessly lead you through strategy, budgeting, planning, and construction.
