About Herrington Excavating, Inc. Herrington Excavating, Inc (HEI) was founded in 1976 by George (Bud) Herrington as a one-man show with two pieces of equipment. In 1986, Bud’s son Lonnie joined the business, working his way to partner until 2013, when Lonnie and his wife Kim bought Herrington Excavating Inc. In those 10 years, Lonnie and Kim have scaled HEI to serve West Michigan through Commercial & Residential Excavating, Directional Drilling, and Commercial & Residential Plumbing with more than 20 dedicated and highly-skilled employees to meet the needs of our community.
