HESBER, an acronym for Hebrew English Source Based Educational Resources, is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring new techniques in Jewish education. It has already produced a number of complete curricula and continues to expand its operations, including- Curriculum Development - Educational Consulting - Teacher- Training - Innovating new learning models for Jewish education HESBER's aim is to provide the tools for educating the fundamentals of Judaism with contemporary relevance. We refer to it as: JEWISH EDUCATION WITH THE T.I.M.E.S • Teaching the Fundamentals of Jewish life- Body and Spirit • Illustrating the Relevance of Jewish Tradition in Contemporary Society • Merging the Principles of Torah Shebichtav and Torah Sheb’al Peh Education • Engaging Students in a thought-provoking manner • Standardizing grade-level education for a new generation of teachers Its "From the Source; with Spirit" series, written by HESBER's director, Rav Binyamin Zimmerman, has already been used by thousands of students in more than 50 schools worldwide. The series currently includes: 3 High School Curricula (each made up of a student text/work book and a Teacher's guide): 1. From the Source; with Spirit- Hilchot Kashrut 2. From the Source; with Spirit- Hilchot Shabbat 3. From the Source; with Spirit- Hilchot Tefilla 1 Middle School Curricula: From the Source; with Spirit- Hilchot Bein Adam LeChavero 1 Pilot for Middle Schools: From the Source; with Spirit- Transmitting the Mesora 2 Special Moments Packages: From the Source; with Spirit- The Experience of Shemitta Yom Yerushalayim - Re-Connecting the Heart HESBER also provides teacher-training seminars to schools studying its materials as well as consultation services to schools on topics such as Tehcnology and Halacha education. HESBER is always interested in finding partners who identify with our educational goals, as well as in hearing your ideas of how we can do our part in improving Jewish education.
