HGCI's research seeks to appraise the worth of a company, called “intrinsic value,” by determining its acquisition value, or by estimating the collateral value of its assets and/or cash flow. The principles of intrinsic value and margin of safety results in an investment policy that runs counter to the general market psychology, and seeks to reduce the decision to purchase or sell securities to a philosophy rather than market timing. We routinely evaluate the market according to our strict valuation criteria and then apply a specific multi-factor model to each company. HGCI's Equity Fund is constructed using factors that are firmly rooted in fundamentally-based investment principles. The Value Fund’s targeted end result is 10-20 companies that have persistently high business returns and are undervalued relative to their business performance.
