Highley Varlet
Founded in 2014 by Jessi Highet and Mike Varley as a shared moniker for collaborations, Highley Varlet is a multidisciplinary brand merging fashion, digital media and physical fitness. Their most recent project is "2020: Total Clarity," which centers around their home of New York City and the act of marathon walking. For five days of every week, they will walk the 26.2 mile marathon distance around the five boroughs of New York - a total of 131 miles/week. Each week is a pre-planned route designed to take them through every neighborhood in the city. As they progress, subsequent walks will be themed around the varied landmarks, histories and cultural touchstones New York has to offer. The current timeframe for this project is June 21, 2020 - June 21, 2021. In addition to walking, Highley Varlet prepares seasonal clothing releases to coincide with the change in their walking attire. The design and production is based on a tiered value system that prioritizes ecological sustainability and ethical manufacturing. Finally, their weekly podcast captures the experience of walking New York City and tells the stories of local New Yorkers they interview on the show. Episodes are available on all major podcast platforms and YouTube.
