Hilary Barry

I am a disciplined and committed painter, working from my studio in Suffolk. My practice encompasses painting, drawing and printing. My work has featured in a range of group and solo exhibitions. My paintings do not seek to be a representation. The image is drawn from the inconsistency of memory and the limits of imagination – not as a linear narrative, but rather as sensory perceptions. I am interested in the convergence of the figurative and the abstract, and in evoking a feeling from the past through the painting process itself.
