Historic Larimer County
Historic Larimer County is a not-for-profit organization devoted to preserving the historical and archaeological integrity of Larimer County, Colorado. It was formed in 1988 under the name Larimer County Historical Trust, which soon after became the Larimer County Historical Alliance. The organization, under the leadership of Derek Roberts, was instrumental in saving the Franz Smith cabin from demolition as well as an old school bus from the Cache la Poudre school district. In February of 2017 the non-profit was rebooted under the name Historic Larimer County. Historic Larimer County is engaged in education and advocacy throughout Larimer County. In addition to writing letters of support for preservation projects and advocating on the behalf of neighborhoods and structures that are at risk, HLC also provides monthly Tours & Talks focused specifically on the knowledge and preservation of historic places. The thirteen member board of Historic Larimer County is deliberately made up of local residents from all over Larimer County.
