Hkust Path Advisor
The HKUST Path Advisor helps users, especially those new to the campus, find their way around the HKUST campus. Developed in the academic year 2009-10, by senior students as a final year project under the supervision of professor Raymond Wong, the Path Advisor has come a long way to now being one of the most used apps on campus. After initial testing for the project showed success, the app was released officially by ITSC. New features like the classroom seating plan were eventually added as development progressed further. To allow independent developers to add new features to Path Advisor without modifying the base code, the plug and play functionality was implemented. This was the major feature among various other new features added to the system, collectively called the Path Advisor 2.0. This was then launched in 2019. Mobile applications for both IOS and Android platforms have also been launched recently to further improve useability. These applications were developed by senior students for their final year project as well as ITSC intern students.
