We’re a UK registered charity committed to bridging the gap in the available support for parents and carers. It’s our ambition to make sure every parent and carer across East Sussex feels heard, supported, and confident when it comes to navigating their children’s emotional and mental health challenges, and to help prevent families reaching crisis point. Holding Space has been set up by Hansa who through her own experience and journey wants to reach out and support others who may feel alone and isolated. The ethos of Holding Space is to provide a safe, non judgemental, confidential space for parents to talk, to be supported, to share, to connect and to know that they are not alone. Our team either have lived experience of this journey or have knowledge and expertise in mental health and well being. We want to stop people feeling alone and isolated; to open up the conversations around mental health challenges. We offer a range of support services from face-face parent coffee mornings, to telephone and well-being calls, and low cost counselling. We provide a holistic approach supporting the whole family. Having supported over 900 families in 4 years, it's clear our support is needed. But as a volunteer-led charity, the demand outweighs our resources. We're actively looking for new volunteers to join the team, and petitioning for funding for permanent paid positions.
