The process of finding personally relevant events is inefficient. To achieve this, the average event seeker relies on word of mouth or queries disparate sources (calendars, email lists, etc.) only to find impertinent results or an incomplete representation of all available events. Consequently, consumers miss events (unrealized opportunities), and event organizers don’t maximize attendance (lost revenue). Hottspot offers a simple, yet ambitious solution to this problem. Hottspot is a web and mobile application that aggregates events and displays them on a simple, intuitive map interface. By pulling from public APIs and employing custom scraping methods we will have the most comprehensive database of events representative of the variety in which our users come. Furthermore, by using machine learning and data mining algorithms we are developing a proprietary adaptive relevance function to match users with only the highest quality events. As we earn our users’ trust, we will secure our position as the prevailing standard for discovering events, regardless of who or where a user is.
