Howell Area Fire Department

We are a combination fire department which consists of full-time and paid-on-call firefighters, covering 144 square miles of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Mission Statement: To protect lives, health, and property in the Howell Area Fire Department (HAFD) response area from the outcomes of fire, medical, structural and environmental emergencies through education, prevention, mitigation and control. We are a member of the Livingston County Special Response Teams which include the Livingston County Dive Team, Livingston County Hazardous Materials Response Team, and the Livingston County Technical Rescue Team. We also have a cadet program that provides a safe learning environment for area youth to experience and learn about a variety of the fire service tasks. Cadets will learn in a classroom setting as well as in practical settings. Top cadets may be offered the training necessary to become a certified firefighter, as well as a position as a firefighter on the Howell Area Fire Department.
