Human Mobility & Migration Lab
In the future, human mobility and migration are expected to increase due to inequality, shifts in economic power, climate change, resource scarcity, urbanization, and social change. Our interdisciplinary lab of researchers—from Law, Sociology, Political Studies, International Relations, and Cultural & Literary Studies, and more—explores the impact of human mobility and migration on communities, and fosters exchange to identify sustainable solutions to the challenges that diverse societies face. HuMM Lab collaborates with international partners to develop research, teaching, and outreach activities. We focus on the dissonances between governance and lived experiences that can undermine democratic institutions and threaten societal cohesion. By examining this interplay, we identify possibilities for repair: ways to address the gaps related to human mobility and migration. Organised in collaboration with the Rudolph Agricola School for Sustainable Development and their Democracy & Governance priority research theme.
