Rising from the idea that Newcastle and the Hunter are full of creative people producing high quality art, craft and design-based work, Newcastle City Council spent some years facilitating the establishment of HAN to give representation to these people. HAN now works via a committee and sub committees to continually strive to improve activities of HAN and to ensure the shape and structure of HAN is relevant. HAN was incorporated in December 2005 and launched in February 2006 at the Newcastle Region Art Gallery. HAN strives to facilitate the opportunities for promotion of member’s & their work through Art Bazaar, social media, our newsletter, blog and artist page on this website. Our key objectives are:* Art Bazaar (insurance included) – visit * Advocate on behalf of members * Professional development nights * Promote communication and collaboration between all art groups in the Hunter * Maintain organisational strength and relevance * Ensure traditional and contemporary media are represented
