HAI, Hurst & Associates, Inc, and its principal, Dr. Richard W. Hurst, have focused on tracing environmental contaminants and evaluating the extent, if any, that potentially responsible parties have contributed to the contamination or alleged contamination, and if so, how much. Our cases include:(1) energy producing activities, such as oil production/fracking;(2) estimating ages of environmental releases, especially legacy leaded gasoline and degraded hydrocarbons);(3) establishing sources of lead in cases of soil/groundwater contamination from paint, battery recycling, leaded gasoline etc;(4) evaluating the environmental impact of "green" energy (e.g, solar, wind) on groundwater and other natural resources; and (5) discriminating among the sources of contamination at the particular site of concern. Our approach involves the utilization of sophisticated, high precision stable isotopic and, in the case of hydrocarbons, gas chromatographic analyses, the results of which are integrated with general geochemical data to provide the best overall interpretation of the environmental impact, and client's exposure.
