With the advent of mandatory iXBRL filing requirements for HMRC there has been a lot of information delivered by various sources around what iXBRL is, how it affects you and how to comply with the requirements. From the 1st April 2011 submission of corporation tax returns to HMRC must be accompanied by computations and accounts in iXBRL format. For the first two years HMRC have advised that they will employ a soft landing approach. This is a bedding-in period to allow software systems and knowledge of iXBRL to improve before full reporting compliance is required.
