The vision of Hypertension Australia is for Australians to have the best-managed blood pressure in the world! We strive for excellence in four core service areas: Research: knowledge generation through investigation, discovery, innovation, and translation into practice; Education: knowledge dissemination and translation of research and discovery; Implementation: supporting the turning of research and discovery into policy and practice; Advocacy and community engagement: creating supportive environments through healthy public policy and lifestyles. Formerly the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia (HBPRCA), in 2022 Hypertension Australia Ltd. was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee. This process was undertaken in consultation with the membership, to allow the organisation to expand the activities of the organisation to include educational activities for the general public and health care professionals as well as taking a more active role in translating the research findings into policy. The HBPRCA has been at the forefront of research into the causes, prevention and treatment of high blood pressure since its inception in 1979. Our members research all aspects of high blood pressure research, spanning experimental molecular biology and genetics to human physiology, drug treatment and clinical management of hypertension. Our members are among the national and international leaders in the field of cardiovascular research. We hold an Annual Scientific Meeting, where members and students present their latest research findings; prestigious awards are available for all career stages. We facilitate education activities for researchers, primary care providers and the general public. Our Early Career Researcher committee run the annual Hypertension Winter School and a mentoring program. New members are always welcome!
