I Am A Teacher

Founded in 2014, by Harvard University alumni, I Am A Teacher (IAAT) is a not-for-profit organization with a purpose to build a relevant and rigorous practice-based model for teacher education in the country. The title ‘I Am A Teacher’ was consciously chosen and coined to build a sense of pride within teachers about the profession and about their identity as teachers. IAAT’s mission is to prepare caring and confident teachers committed to becoming reflective practitioners and lifelong learners, proficient in the content and practice of the Discipline. – IAAT’s flagship program is the Post Graduate Diploma in Learning & Teaching, a year-long, practice-based, face-to-face, pre-service teacher preparation & education program. Offered at Mumbai & Gurgaon, the program has graduated and placed over 250 teachers in leading educational institutions & consultancies across the Globe. Over a 10-month period, homemakers, lawyers, teachers, chartered accountants, and management professionals spend time in a classroom, being coached & mentored by an experienced educator. Simultaneously, they attend theory classes, and are guided by a teacher-educator who helps them make tangible connections between theory & practice. In addition, IAAT also conducts certificate programs in instructional leadership & design for the professional development of in-service teachers. We also conduct shorter-duration topic, grade, pedagogy, and subject specific courses such as classroom management, the teaching of language, early & primary year’s education and many more.
