We, the Fire Fighters of the City of Cleveland, having learned the value of organization, have organized this Union for the protection and the maintenance of the hard-won rights belonging to its members. Among these rights are just and adequate compensation for their labor, fair and just treatment as employees of the City of Cleveland and sufficient leisure time so that our members may pursue happiness in whatever manner they see fit. We shall endeavor to pursue these rights, which belong equally to all men and women of this organization, without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, political affiliation or religion, in whatever manner deemed necessary by the members of this Association. We are conscious of our duties to our employers, the citizens of Cleveland, to our profession, to the command of the Division of Fire, and to our Country.
