How we are different: Unlike traditional batch fermentation methods that rely on microbial expression systems such as E. coli, Ice Bear’s mammalian platform enables the direct secretion of fully folded insulin analogs into the culture media, dramatically reducing the need for complex folding and purification steps. Our impact on the world: To bring much needed innovation to the manufacturing industry to ensure the long term supply of insulin for communities of patients with type 1 diabetes around the world. Our platform will enable populations to have local access to manufacturing capabilities even in the most remote resource constrained markets in the world.
