The ICENI Centre’s ethos is to bring together leaders in healthcare to share their skills, knowledge and experience of best practice, through a diverse range of learning resources. The Centre’s first class facilities and training is available to all – from aspiring NHS employees of the future, today’s undergraduates and clinicians on a career pathway from FY1 through to senior consultants. With multi-disciplinary medical training, innovation and research at its core the ICENI Centre’s mission is to provide local, national and global healthcare professionals the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in a safe, stress free environment. The ICENI Centre aims to support this ethos by bringing together leaders from a range of medical specialities to share their expertise and to help develop skills through simulation courses using cutting edge technical equipment. The ICENI Centre has been at the forefront of laparoscopic training and research for over 20 years. The Centre was established to share the knowledge of the early pioneering laparoscopic work performed at Colchester Hospital and its work and reputation progressed steadily as increasing numbers of advanced laparoscopic surgeons were attracted to Colchester Hospital.
