ICHOvzw is opgericht door KU Leuven, Universiteit Antwerpen, Universiteit Gent en de Vrije Universiteit Brussel in het kader van hun Interuniversitair Samenwerkingsverband HuisartsenOpleiding (ISHO). De vzw staat in voor de organisatie van de master-na-master huisartsgeneeskunde in Vlaanderen: training van de verschillende opleiders (praktijkopleiders en stagecoördinatoren), toewijzing van de stageplaatsen bij erkende praktijkopleiders, organisatie van de tweewekelijkse seminariegroepen onder leiding van erkende stagecoördinatoren, organisatie van de examens.
