ICLight (previously FiberJets) is developing an innovative, multi-layered, 3D printing technology of Fiber Optic Circuit Boards (FOCBs), designed for ultra-high-speed components on integrated printed circuit boards (PCBs) that handle large quantities of data. ICLight’s technology prints glass directly onto circuit boards, which allows high-speed data transfer in a fraction of the time required for a regular PCB. The technology is a quantum leap in speed and data processing that will enable the industry to break through current limits of data transfer speed. ICLight’s FOCB printing technology embeds optical bers into one or more layers of the circuit board for high-speed optical data transmission and digital signal rates and electrically conductive strips in other layers to provide for conventional data signals and power for optoelectronic and electronic integrated circuits (ICs). Optical bers connect to optoelectronic ICs, off-board ICs, circuit boards and conductors, to reduce high-speed digital signal latency and increase signal bandwidth/throughput. Optical bers are used within printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, circuit board connectors, and backplane connectors to interface printed circuit boards and backplane boards.
