At ICT4Kids we have a vision for a world where underprivileged kids are equally ICT-enabled and ready for the digital future. Our Mission is to promote digital literacy by providing ICT infrastructure and ICT Curriculum via generous donations and volunteer coaching. Why does our goal matter? 70% of India’s workforce resides in rural areas, it is rural India that will form the majority of tomorrow’s workforce. To remain globally competitive and develop engaged citizens, the underprivileged kids coming to these rural schools also need 21st-century competencies and expertise throughout the learning experience. The Situation Currently: In rural schools, only 6% of students thought their ICT skills were very good. The reason for their low skills could be attributed to the lower availability of ICT infrastructure in schools. There is a ‘digital divide’ within India between rural and urban schools.
