Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global public health crisis—often called the “silent pandemic.” As bacteria, viruses, and fungi evolve to resist existing treatments, the overuse and misuse of antibiotics only accelerate the problem. Despite the urgent need for new solutions, antibiotic development remains inadequate due to its lack of profitability. At iGEM Marburger 2025, we are tackling this unmet medical need through a sustainable, innovative approach using nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPS). Our strategy integrates: Heterologous NRP Expression NRP Derivatization Chemical Conjugation Activity Profiling By combining synthetic biology, AI, and molecular engineering, we aim to develop next-generation antibiotics that can outpace resistance and safeguard the future of medicine.
