Igem Utrecht

iGEM is an international biotech competition dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education, and the development of an open academic community, bringing students from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds together. Teams from all over the world set up their own research with the aim to develop novel genetic based solutions to social problems. This year’s Utrecht team is developing an innovative method for detection of emerging contaminants in surface waters damaging aquatic life, environment, and human health. We will achieve our goal through specific customizations of the detection machinery of bacteria by the implementation of genetically engineered machines.
