Founding partners, Jacob Kandefer and DeAnna Butler, developed the concept for Ikan in 2002 after realizing the need for a specialized firm that independently collaborates with design teams and provides Advanced Sustainability Design Solutions and LEED Consultancy Services. Ikan Consulting, LLC is a business dedicated to improving, enhancing, and preserving the environment through designing sustainable, green buildings. As industry leaders, Ikan LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) sustainability consultants work directly with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and other real‐estate professionals to integrate quality and exceptional performance to infrastructure development projects. In 2004, the Ikan Partnership was founded in Rochester, NY, and the company became an accredited member of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). Ikan has just celebrated five years of continued success by providing their professional services to companies in the United States, Libya, Dubai, Qatar, Egypt, and Beirut. Their projects are just as diverse as the locations in which they are located. Their unique approach to sustainable building design offers clients more value and better design; and results that save money and security while using energy and natural resources wisely. In this field, Ikan’s pursuit of environmental excellence produces fundamentally better buildings that are more comfortable, more efficient, more appealing, and ultimately more profitable.
