IKantKoan Play/s is an award-winning immersive experience and game studio dedicated to crafting surprising games for gutsy people. IKantKoan’s work translates real world experiences to playful, pro-social encounters with strong narrative elements. We make public-facing and client-specific work incorporating live events, tabletop games, digital games, mobile apps, and fantastical hybrids. Responses to our work often sound like “I’m not sure what just happened to me, but I want to do it again.” IKantKoan has been feated by The World Economic Forum, Games for Change, SXSW, Beyond Opera (Helsinki), Tanween Creativity Festival (Ithra), UPENN's Environmental Storytelling and Virtual Reality Summit (Philadelphia), and on NPR, among many others. Founder, Jessica Creane, is a game and immersive experience designer focused on personal and communal transformation through play. She is the founder of IKantKoan Play/s, Professor of Game Design at Drexel University, a 2022 Arctic Circle Artist-in-Residence, an environmentally-focused game designer with The National Parks Service, and a founding member of The Rachael Carson Center Existential Toolkit for Climate Justice Educators. Jessica recently gave a TEDx talk on embracing uncertainty through play and her work has been presented by The World Economic Forum, The New York Times, and KQED San Fransisco. Jessica's work has been recognized as Best of Immersive Theater by No Proscenium, Immersive Nation, NextWave, and Broad Street Review. Her immersive theater productions Chaos Theory and Know Thyself have run a combined 18 months in NYC. Her games have won accolades at Fastaval (Copenhagen), Hawaiicon, and BostonFIG. She is a published author of critical game theory with the journal Game Environments as well as a co-author of the upcoming 2023 release of 'An Existential Toolkit for Climate Educators'.
