iMAL is the first lab supported by the Government of Pakistan that envisions to bring Industrial revolution 5.0. Delegated by the National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) set up by the Ministry of Planning,Development & Reform. The real purpose of automating an industrial system is to improve the efficiency, reduce the process cost, addressing real world problem and monitoring quality assurance. The energy crisis in Pakistan is another highlighted problem of Pakistan. According to a research due to inefficient appliances around 25% of electricity is wasted in Pakistan. If smart measure are taken in this matter around 17% of the energy could be saved that will also result in reduction of load on national grid station. As an example, there are more than 600 motors working in various capacities at WASA, Lahore e.g. tube wells, disposals, lifters etc. The motors are inefficiently utilized without knowing the rated load. The data acquired from WASA officials show that more than 200 Million rupees can be saved in terms of electricity if the loads are optimum. In order to ensure this, we are proposing to build an automation solution that can be used for not only power monitoring but can also offer complete remote control for operations during optimum load for maximum energy saving.
