Imeche-Ist Chapter

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) stands out as a swiftly advancing professional engineering establishment. With its headquarters stationed in London, IMechE operates worldwide, boasting a membership of over professionals spanning across 140 countries. These members are instrumental in driving forward the most crucial and dynamic industries. Back in 2017, the IMechE Student Chapter was established at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad, under the guidance of Dr. Asif Israr, the Head of the Mechanical Department. The chapter's formation adhered to IST's Student Affairs Department guidelines. Its primary objective revolves around disseminating IMechE's vision, centered on leveraging engineering to enhance the global landscape, particularly among IST students. At present, the chapter is organized into four distinct departments: Project Management, Event Management, Media Cell, and Finance. A pivotal goal of the chapter is to provide hands-on engineering experiences to its members. In this pursuit, the Project Management Department plays a vital role by supporting IMechE Student Affiliates at IST, facilitating their participation in prestigious IMechE events like the "Formula Student" and the "Unmanned Aircraft Systems Challenge."
