IMIX believes that people who migrate and seek safety in the UK should be welcomed and valued within our communities. Everything we do seeks to challenge and humanise the often-hostile narrative on migration and displacement. There is a human story behind every negative headline and that story deserves to be heard. We amplify the words and stories of those affected by the immigration system which we know can speak powerfully to an audience, shift perspectives and ultimately change cruel policies. As a team of communications experts, we seek to resource and build the capacity of the sector to speak confidently about issues which affect them, their projects and campaigns and vision for a fairer immigration system. There is power in our community, so by building strong connections across the sector with influential media outlets, we can work together for greater impact. We offer training, coaching and mentoring to those in the sector with both lived and learnt experience of migration on communications, campaigns, media engagement and marketing. Building confidence and experience within the sector for individuals and charities to tell their stories and counter the hostile narrative. We provide briefings, expertise and access to our network of spokespeople to the local, regional and national media to increase understanding of the nuances of migration, the terminology, the facts around migration and above all the human stories that sit behind the numbers. We convene sector wide communications meetings and provide briefings and messaging guidance to the sector when there are breaking news stories to help lead the narrative on migration.
