ImmunoDiagnostics Limited (IMD) is a spin-off biotech company from The University of Hong Kong. The company is dedicated to biomarker discovery, assay development and in vitro diagnostics (IVD) of major chronic diseases, particularly on cardio-metabolic diseases and autoimmune diseases. The company has established an integrated “biomarker/antigen-antibody-immunoassay” pipeline for the development of innovative diagnostic products. Firstly, new biomarkers are expressed in the form of recombinant proteins with different protein expression systems and are subsequently purified to a final purity of above 95% by procedures such as affinity purification, ion-exchange chromatography, size exclusion chromatography and gel infiltration. Secondly, by using high-quality recombinant proteins as antigens, antibodies are generated in the serum of host animals such as rabbits or mice after immunization and are further purified from the serum by performing both IgG- and antigen-based affinity purification; Lastly, highly specific antibodies are used for the development of a series of innovative semi- or fully automatic immunoassays with supreme sensitivity, specificity and efficiency, including immunoblotting assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), as well as immunoturbidimetry assays (ITAs), chemiluminescence assays (CLIAs), which can be directly applied in clinical diagnosis.
