Importas Gmbh

The history of Importas GmbH had its beginning on 25.08.1997. The company was founded by the couple Srithas and Suganthy in Neuhausen. Newly immigrated to Switzerland, they gathered all their courage and fulfilled their own dream to start a company. Through the connection to their home country Sri Lanka and Switzerland, they have built a bridge between these two worlds and cultures with Importas, which connects them to this day. Importas offers a diverse range of products, such as food, spices, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, which come from Asian countries and are relatively exotic. For instance, they sell Sri Lankan tea, Indian spices, and Thai sauces. Importas has three locations: an office in Hendschicken and stores in Zurich and Bern where customers can purchase products. The company employs about 40 people, and the head office has recently been moved to Hendschiken. In 2014, Importas merged with SM Seafood, and both companies moved to one location in 2021. Importas is one of the largest importers and distributors of southeast Asian food in Switzerland, supplying products to over 400 retailers and wholesalers.
