We don’t believe the jaw-jaw at climate conferences or the paw-paw of the Global South versus North are enough to arrest and reverse the effects of climate change on this little rock we inhabit. At some point, the invisible hand guiding the “animal spirits” of capitalism needs to start steering people in the right direction. We’re a bunch of environmentally conscious, socially aware suits applying the skills acquired over decades in corporate boardrooms to curating, incubating and backing businesses that could potentially slow down or reverse the effects of climate change. We do what we do because we believe our children’s children should be able to see stars in the night sky and enjoy the crisp winter sun. The collective wisdom of the grand panjandrums may be that the world is past the point of recovery but we choose to believe otherwise. We believe the collective genius of scientists, techies, entrepreneurs, etc can turn things around. We plan to put our weight – and the weight of all kindred spirits behind every new idea, every new experiment that potentially creates a more sustainable lifestyle. We may still topple into the precipice with the rest of humanity but we promise to do it derriere first, swimming vigorously in the opposite direction.
