ingenie offers a fresh approach to car insurance, using telematics technology to treat every driver as an individual. Our customers pay for their insurance cover based on the way they drive – instead of on collective risk factors, which is how traditional insurance works. After a customer joins, ingenie fits a black box device in their car. This doesn’t limit mileage or impose curfews; instead it assesses individual driving behaviour. Customers get feedback via the ingenie mobile app and website around every 10 days to help them improve their driving skills. We then review insurance premiums 3 times a year, with the aim of reducing the cost of car insurance for good drivers. Over the course of the year our customers can earn up to an extra 21% off their insurance – and over 70% of customers earn a discount for good driving. After a year with ingenie, our customers’ insurance comes down by around 45%. We also do flexible cover for learner drivers without their own car, that protects the car owner's No Claims Discount from any dings while they're practising.
