An den Start gegangen ist die Initiative Tierwohl 2015 als Förderprogramm für Tierwohl. Mit ihr bekennen sich die Partner aus Landwirtschaft, Fleischwirtschaft, Lebensmittelhandel und Gastronomie zu ihrer gemeinsamen Verantwortung für Tierhaltung, Tiergesundheit und Tierschutz in der Nutztierhaltung. Inzwischen ist sie Deutschlands größte Plattform für mehr Tierwohl. Ihr Ansatz ist evolutionär: es zählen die nächsten möglichen Schritte – und das in der Breite, nicht in der Nische.
