Inria Chile

Inria, France’s National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology, supports the French government in national digital research and innovation strategies as a Program Agency. Inria develops over 300 research and innovation projects with 3,500 scientists, engineers, and support staff, in collaboration with universities and the digital ecosystem. The goal: To generate scientific, technological, and industrial impact in service of France’s digital sovereignty. Inria Chile, Inria’s only center established outside France, has been operating successfully in the country since 2012. It has received sustained support from the French government through Inria, and from the Chilean government through Corfo and later the Chilean Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation via ANID. Today, Inria Chile is a driving force for cutting-edge research, technological innovation, and knowledge transfer. It collaborates with universities, companies, startups, public institutions, and international organizations to address the challenges of the digital revolution. Inria Chile also operates the Franco-Chilean Binational Center on Artificial Intelligence, established following the Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed in November 2024 by Chile’s Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation and Inria in the framework of a strategic bilateral cooperation approach. The Center’s mission is to boost Franco-Chilean cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI), catalyzing and expanding research, training, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystems in AI. Additionally, the Center serves as a geostrategic bridge, connecting France-led European excellence with the dynamism of Latin America, with Chile as a regional hub.
