Institute for Basic and Phytochemical Sciences is started and run by a group of Scientists who have common interest in phytochemistry and its applications in the field of drug designing and drug synthesis. It is started very recently by Feb 2011. Location: Erode, TN, India. Focus: Current focus of the Institute is as follows:* Identifying various herbs referred in traditional medicinal System (Mainly, Siddha* System of India)* Phytochemical screening of herbs.* Characterisation of phytochemicals * Chemical synthesis of phytochemicals and their analogues.* Evaluation of safety and efficacy of phytomolecules and their analogues Mode of operation: Institute encourages scholars with minimum education of Post graduation in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy to carry out the researches within the focus areas of Institute. Research coordinators who are basically Ph D degree holders will monitor and guide the researches carried out by the scholars. It is proposed to have association with various laboratories around the globe for guidance and mutual support. Each of the scholars will work on one project at a time and on completion of each of these projects, he / she will prepare thesis and submit for Ph D degree. Association with other Research Institutes and Universities: In principle, the governing committee of the Institute has decided to coordinate / associate with other research institutes and Universities which have involved in the similar research.
