Institute For Civility
Since 1997, the Institute for Civility has been working to promote civility—in government, workplaces, schools, and anywhere people gather to live, learn, work, and play. The Institute for Civility is dedicated to reducing polarization by facilitating dialogue, teaching respect, and building civility in both the public and private spheres. Our Vision We see a day when civility is the norm for all of us where we live, work and play. Programs like our Congressional Student Forums cultivate civility across the political aisle, and foster effective collaboration on Capitol Hill. Our Civility Training teach skills that can be applied to almost any context where conflicts occur, as well as offering strategies for dealing with incivility. And our Legislative Seminars to Washington, DC offer a rare opportunity to put civility skills in practice in the midst of real life civic engagement. Our programs are a laboratory of civility, creating a model and setting a tone for the next generation to experience and adopt as their own.
