Our model of care is a response to the inadequate view and application of modern psychology, which often reduces the understanding of the human person. As a consequence, the scope of practice becomes limited, and mental health means nothing more than the alleviation of symptoms. The foundation of our model of care rests on a thorough and proper understanding of the human person as: • A body-soul composite • Relational, requiring union with others • Principally seeking happiness • Having three powers of the soul: intellect, will and passions • Properly ordered when the intellect knows the truth, the will seeks the good and the passions effectively engage reason, inclining us toward good and away from harm • Empowered through virtue to properly order the powers of the soul and to pursue happiness Integrative Psychology Services emphasizes that mental health is not just the absence of symptoms. Rather, it is characterized by living a flourishing life; a life engaged in what is true, good and beautiful.
