Island Learning Grenada

Island Learning Grenada is a Grenadian owned business that specializes in e-learning creation for kids in the Grenada Diaspora on Grenada's history, heritage and culture. Island Learning Grenada commenced operations in November 2021, and is owned by Grenadian and Diaspora member, Christell Simeon. We currently have an e-suite of eight courses that have been designed and curated for children, ages 5 10 12 as an initial offering for Grenadian families in the Diaspora. The "WHY" for the business is about three main pillars: 1. Treasuring the roots and heritage of Grenada so that heritage and traditions can be passed on down to the next generation. This ensures that our Grenadian way of life would be maintained for generations to come. This is especially important for the Diaspora where the societal environment is bicultural. This means that children are raised in two or more cultures - those of their parents' heritage and those of their residing country (whether USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany etc). Building Grenadian pride in the next generation, focusing on educating children and supporting their enlightenment from childhood to adulthood on the culture and heritage of the homeland of their parents or grandparents. This acknowledges the fact that the size of the Grenadian Diaspora population is as large as the population on island (estimated at people). Research on identity and Diaspora indicates that maintaining the cultural identity of those who live in the Diaspora is important in fostering relationships with others, dealing with discrimination, and self-identity issues as children move from childhood into adulthood (being raised in an immigrant/host country).
