Italic Act

Italic Act is gonna be your friend in need when designing italics! Italics play diverse roles in various applications, including mimicking speech, emphasizing text, altering meaning, and enhancing design aesthetics. However, while there is extensive documentation on drawing roman typefaces, information on creating italic companions is limited. Italic Act is a new initiative by Jolana Sýkorová and Sabina Chipară that seeks to address this gap by engaging in discussions with different designers, including experts in other scripts, to understand the latest italic design approaches. The goal is to highlight differences in methodologies, identify common grounds, and showcase different methods of drawing italics.
