I offer proofreading services specialising in academic dissertations, theses and journal submissions in STEM, and also working with fiction aimed at children or adults. As a North East proofreader, I often hear people saying, “I know what I want to say when I write something down. It’s obvious what I mean. Well, it is to me…” But in reality, does this really make sense to their audience? Sometimes, when re-reading an email later, an ambiguity or inconsistency leaps off the page. For a longer piece of work, or a formal communication, a second pair of eyes can be helpful before letting your hard work loose on your target audience. This is where proofreading and proof-editing become invaluable and why I decided to offer a proofreading service here in the North East of England.
